These are some of my natural history ramblings, both literary and afoot, the result of a search for whatever there is to be found, including the native orchids and wildflowers of the beautiful state in which we live.

Skagit Valley Daffodils
Monday was spring vacation for the school children, so my wife was free of her teaching duties. I took the day off and we traveled to Wallace Falls State Park in the North Cascades, about a two hour drive from our home. We arrive early and spent a good part of the day hiking there, and then headed home. On the way home we stopped in the Skagit Valley to see the daffodil fields of the bulb growers there and took some photos. The sky was clearing after a day that was quite dull and the contrast of blue sky and yellow daffodils made for some fine photos. Due a late and cold spring the daffodils are not at their peak yet, though they soon will be and we intend to go again when the tulips are also blooming.
