Having missed the glaciers and bays of southeastern Alaska due to an aborted ferry trip, we decided to take one of the cruises out of Seward, a day trip that took about six hours. The days was overcast and cool, but we saw the Holgate Glacier, a part of the Harding Icefields, a lot of wildlifeand seabirds, and some beautiful scenery. Finished with the cruise we went hiking south of Seward following the coastal trail from Lowell Point to Tonsina Beach but that was a disappointment. The trail was little more than a forest service road through the woods with little to see. On our way back from the trail, however, we saw a fishing boat that had apparently suffered engine failure and was in danger of going on the rocks. In fact, it was banging up against the rocks when another boat arrived to tow it off.
