Saturday, September 26, my brother Tim was in the area for work and we decided to do some hiking near Artist's Point, the Chain Lakes trail. The weather was good when we started but soon turned wet and cold and we decided to go back, in part because Tim was not feeling well. What hiking we did was from the Austin Pass parking lot, between Upper and Lower Bagley Lakes and partway up the trail to Herman Saddle.
This is a favorite area of ours for autumn color, but this year the color was past its peak though still decent. The Mountain-ash had all lost their colorful berries and were losing their leaves. The Blueberries and Huckleberries had also no fruit though the leaves were still colorful. We did some good shots of the sunrise and the ray of the sun through the trees on our way up to the trailhead, but not much else.
