Monday, March 16, my wife and I, after spending the morning on Fidalgo Island photographing the spring wildflowers, went on to the Skagit Valley to see there the tulip and daffodil fields of the bulb growers. We are having a very early spring and the daffodils are already at their peak with the tulips beginning to bloom. After one stop on a hill to the southwest of the valley we went on to some of the fields belonging to Rozengaarde, one of the main growers and found not only tulips and daffodils but a huge flock of Snow Geese that had wintered in the area. We took some pictures of the flowers, but the geese were the main attraction. There were thousands of them and the noise was incredible. When we first arrived some idiot kids were chasing them and it was difficult to get pictures, but after the kids left and they settled down we spent several hours photographing them, some at very close range. Even then, however, they would suddenly start flying and fill the air all around.

Thanks, Fizzie. The Snow Geese were one of the most things I've ever seen.
They are amazing... We have flocks of Canadian Geese which are quite large. They're easier to photograph than the Snow Geese, though, so I applaud your work 'cause I know it took some doing to get such great shots....
