Vancouver Aquarium

I spent a day in Vancouver recently.  Had planned on going skiing with my daughter who lives there, but we ended up going to a Christmas concert instead.  Because my wife was away in Michigan visiting her parents, I spent the day in Vancouver while waiting for my daughter to finish work and walked across town to Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium.  These are some of the pictures.

I was especially fascinated with the Jellyfish which were in beautifully lighted displays that invited endless pictures.  The pictures shown here are only a very few of the many I took.  Besides the Jellyfish the displays of the sea creatures from the Pacific Northwest was fascinating.  Most of these are identified, but there are a few which I forgot to record.

Giant Green Anemone

Orange Sea Pen

Giant White-plumed Anemone

Vermillion Rockfish

Giant Plumose Anemone

Fish-eating Anemone

Beluga Whale

Spotted Garden Eel

Emerald Tree Boa

Thanks, Marti. Wasn't much opportunity to photograph them as they seemed to stay on the other end of their tank.

I had never been to a place like this before and went a bit mad taking pictures. Wonderful place and a very enjoyable day.

Wow! Beautiful series. Wonderful color and sharpness considering the lighting, medium your shooting through and the constant movement in the aquarium. Bunka1

The yellow, white and black fish before the Banggai Cardinalfish is a Threadfin Butterflyfish, Chaetodon auriga. I recognize that from snorkeling on Kauai (but I had to look it up in a Fishes of Hawaii book to get the name).
