These are some of my natural history ramblings, both literary and afoot, the result of a search for whatever there is to be found, including the native orchids and wildflowers of the beautiful state in which we live.

Derelict Machinery
On Wednesday, December 29th, my son-in-law who was visiting, my youngest son and I went out to do some photography. Since our time was limited we went to a place in the foothills of the North Cascades about a half hour away where we had seen and photographed a yard full of old vehicles and machinery. The place is not a junkyard, but appears to be private land on which a quite a number of these old vehicles are displayed without any attempt being made to protect them from the elements.
The vehicles include old cars and trucks as well as old tractors, and old logging and construction equipment including an old steam shovel, old bulldozers and caterpillars, and old farm equipment. We would have asked permission but there seemed to be no one about and no one said anything about our being there and taking pictures, so we snapped away, though the day was a bit wet and gray. These are some of the pictures we took that afternoon.

Wow Ron some of those are stunning
I love the first one and the front of the bar. Also the pull knobs on the dash and the Caterpiller graphic
What a mysters as to who and why they were collected
Really nice shots. Nothing better than rust and barns!
Marti, if you are ever up this way the place is east of Bellingham. Be glad to give you directions or show you the place - you could make it part of trip to Mount Baker later in the summer.
One could spend quite a bit of time at this place, Rick. There's a lot of photograph.
Belle série de clichés très intéressants et bien détaillés.
Amitiés et salutations Ron.

Dominique,
How very nice to hear from you again. Hope you are well and thanks for the comments.
These old vehicles are amazing! I also like shipwrecks and all sort of old things
Thanks for visiting, Mike. I've seen your ship pictures on Flicker and they are awesome.
Hello, I found your site by chance, and I was wondering where you came across all of the old cars and trucks. I would love to go there and see if I could buy one of these old ford pickups do you think you could direct me there? Thank you for your time and your assistance, Danny
Hi Danny,
I don't know where you live but this is in Washington State, Whatcom County on the Mosquito Lake Road near Bellingham.
Hi Ron, I just came across this blog and I love it! Would it be okay to share some of your photographs with a Facebook Page of mine "Abandoned Mansions, farms, and everything else abandoned"? I currently have 2,439 followers and they just love this sort of thing as do I. Of course I will give you the full credit that you deserve. If you'd rather not share them I understand; no problem. Thanks for your time and consideration. :)
